I am logged into the premium account on the same device with the Google Home app. I've logged out all other devices just to be sure. Google Home keeps coming back with "Spotify requires a premium account to work with Google Home." It is beyond frustrating. After the Mini stopped playing Spotify, I just tried to play a song on Spotify on my phone and cast it to the Mini and that wouldn't connect as well. However, it looks like it's working again now!
